between sand and water. However, much of the sand around the world is
impacted by pollution, which can render the sand hydrophobic and
disrupts the natural cohesion that occurs between sand and water.
SAND-Rx is a proprietary protein-based reagent composed of naturally
occurring marine materials. When applied to sand, it flushes hydrophobic pollutants from the sand, enabling
the sand to reestablish its natural cohesion and the beach ecosystem to
thrive. Wave action is essential to the SAND-Rx treatment process as the
waves push new sand on to the shore helping to renourish the eroded
beaches. As sand treated with SAND-Rx interacts with untreated sand, the
migratory properties of SAND-Rx allow all sand in the treatment area to
receive the benefits of SAND-Rx. When applied offshore, SAND-Rx deposits
sand carried by waves and quickly fills erosion trenches. The filled erosion trenches decrease
wave energy, further protecting the beach environment.
