About SandCastle Technology

SandCastle Technology, LLC is a company created in 2007 with the objective of providing environmentally safe, cost effective solutions to reverse the effects of beach erosion and other areas of concern related to waterways, estuaries and environmentally sensitive locations. SandCastle Technology, headquartered in Agawam, MA, is led by a team of scientists and engineers with a diverse background.

The SAND-Rx™ beach treatment product has been in development since 1997 and has been tested on several beaches in the United States, including New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida and North Carolina. The creation of SandCastle Technology is the result of the close collaboration between Dr. Blaise McArdle, Dr. Amine Dahmani (Section Team Leader of Spectrum Analytical, Inc.) and Dr. Hanibal C. Tayeh (CEO/Laboratory Director of Spectrum Analytical, Inc.).

Dr. Hanibal C. Tayeh, Chief Executive Officer of SandCastle Technology, has extensive experience in environmental testing and is currently CEO/President and Laboratory Director of Spectrum Analytical, a company that was a 2006 Super 60 award winner in the state of Massachusetts, an honor given to the top economic drivers in Western Massachusetts. Dr. Tayeh brings his tremendous business and technical expertise to the SandCastle Technology team.

Dr. Blaise McArdle, inventor of SAND-Rx™, has extensive experience in product development in the environmental, food and energy fields. He holds numerous patents related to his inventions. Dr. McArdle is Chief Technology Officer of SandCastle Technology. He has been testing the SAND-Rx™ technology for the last 10 years and brings a wealth of experience in innovative beach restoration technology.

Dr. Amine Dahmani, Chief Operating Officer of SandCastle Technology, has extensive experience in Research and Development in the environmental field, both at the University of Connecticut (UCONN), where he was Director of the Site Assessment and Remediation Laboratories at the Environmental Research Institute, and at Spectrum Analytical, where he is Section Team Leader of Research and Development. He has also taught at the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department at UCONN.

The SandCastle Technology team also includes marine scientists and engineers from Steinbeck Technologies and MTAC Technologies.

SandCastle Technology works with state and local authorities, environmental regulatory agencies, local communities and private beach or land owners to evaluate the severity of the problem and determine the appropriate level of treatment for that specific beach area or waterway. Based on these evaluations, the SandCastle Technology team will apply SAND-Rx™ to the designated shorelines and work in conjunction with the local authorities or agencies to monitor the progress of the treatment.

The world’s beaches and waterways are vital to the health of the environment, as well as, providing a variety of recreational and economic benefits. As the world’s population continues to grow and more strain is placed on the beaches and waterways, the benefits received from these areas will diminish.
